Pharmacy Tech program is an all online instructor led program with externship at WALGREENS OR CVS or another pharmacy near you with possible employment opportunities.
The program is approximately 450 hours (21 weeks-5 months) and an Externship of 160 hours(4 to 8 weeks) in a Walgreens or CVS or another pharmacy , no matter where in Mississippi you are located. Students watch videos, complete homework, print powerpoints, practice simulations, and complete exams on our website according to the daily schedule at any time of day, on any device with internet connection. Twice a week from 7pm to 8pm, all course students will be in live class with an instructor to discuss course work with question and answer sessions.
REQUIREMENTS--
· Must be a resident of Mississippi.
· Completed college application in the school office or on our website. You will receive an email confirmation.
· Copy of photo ID as proof you are least 18 years of age by the first day of externship
· Copy of your high school transcript, diploma, GED, or signed attestation as proof of completion
· Must be physically able to perform the employment skills of the program. Only if pre-existing conditions restrict and/or limit your abilities, a written statement from a physician stating limitations is required. The Director will inform the student if attending the program will not lead to employment due to limitations.
· Interviews with Director-considerations are the ability to benefit, reason students want to enter the program of choice, understanding the requirements of employment in the program of choice, ability to pass the courses, ability to pay fees.
· Complete criminal background check with no felonies
· Program fees paid in full before externship
The Pharmacy Tech curriculum is designed to create the standard of knowledge to work effectively with pharmacists and provide excellent patient care and services. This course provides students with solid coverage of the information they need to be successful. Students learn the laws and regulations governing pharmacies and drug distribution. Other objectives include effects of prescription and illegal drugs, pharmacy math calculations, and drug classifications. The curriculum covers all aspects mapped to the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination Curriculum.

Employment Opportunities--- Pharmacy Technician
Employment Outlook--- Pharmacies are popping up on every corner giving students many opportunities for employment. The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that employment of pharmacy techs will increase 12% from 2016 to 2026. The number of reported jobs in 2016 was 402,500.
Average Salary--- According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay for pharmacy technicians in 2017 was $15.26 per hour or $31,750 per year.
Certification and Job Placement --- For Mississippi residents, you must start registering before externship. To become certified, the graduate must pass a national exam. The student is responsible for the exam fee and transportation to/from the testing center. Medical2 Career College will be working with employers to place as many graduates as possible. Medical2 Career College does not guarantee employment for any students. Employment opportunities with Walgreens or CVS after externship are possible, but not guaranteed.
