Certified Nurse Assistant Program of Study  

CNA Program--$1200-- 


The Certified Nurse Assistant program provides the necessary skills for employment in the medical community. The program includes lectures, discussions, and exams on basic nursing. Also, included is 23 CNA step-by-step skills such as denture care, feeding, bathing, cathcare, vital signs, pericare, and more. 


Class times--see Schedule for Start Dates-----


  •  40 classroom live hours (10-4-hour classes) 
  • approx. 16 hours online out of class exams/video/power point hours
  • 16 hours (2–8-hour days) in person classroom skill check offs
  • 16 hours (2–8-hour days) in person clinical hours at an area long term care facility

  1. Day class---9am to 1pm live instructor led classroom classes for 3 weeks then Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the 4th week both 8-hour days for skill training and checkoffs followed by Saturday/Sunday both 8-hour days for clinicals.    
  2. Night class---5:30-9:30pm live instructor led classroom classes for 3 weeks then Monday. Saturday/Sunday the 3rd weekend both 8-hour days for skill training and checkoffs followed by Saturday/Sunday both 8-hour days for clinicals.    


REQUIREMENTS for CNA program---

  • Must be a resident of Mississippi.
  • Completed college application in the school office or on our website.  You will receive an email confirmation.
  • Copy of photo ID as proof you are least 17 years of age. If 17 years of age, provide a signed parental consent form is required.
  • Copy of your high school transcript as proof you attempted high school by did not complete it, diploma, GED, or signed attestation.
  • Must be physically able to perform the employment skills of the program. Only if pre-existing conditions restrict and/or limit your abilities, a written statement from a physician stating limitations is required. The Director will inform the student if attending the program will not lead to employment due to limitations.
  • Interview with Director-considerations are ability to benefit, reason student wants to enter the program of choice, understanding the requirements of employment in the program of choice, ability to pass the courses, ability to pay fees or financial aid, if available.
  • Complete federal criminal background check
  • Negative findings on state abuse registry
  • Proof of 2 Covid vaccination injections
  • Negative TB test results before clinicals
  • Proof of an influenza vaccination before clinicals if clinicals are between October 1 and March 31
  • Proof of Hep B and Tetanus is up to date before clinicals (not during COVID)
  • Program fees paid in full by graduation.

Tupelo- $350 down and $170 a week for 5 weeks



OTHER FEES:  Scrubs, stethoscope, $32 federal background check, TB test, Covid vaccination 

                        MMR, Hep B, and Tetanus vaccinations up to date (not during COVID), and influenza vaccination (Oct 1 to March 1)

Delivery Model------Residential (classroom) 72 hours and Clinicals in long term care facility 16 hours, Exams, skill and chapter videos are on website-May be viewed or completed out of class.


Course Objective---CNAs take care of residents’ or patients’ personal needs while assisting the nursing staff by notifying them of physical, emotional, or mental changes in the resident or patient. Certified Nurse Assistants must graduate and pass the CNA state exam to become eligible for employment in a long-term care facility.


Employment Outlook---Within a 60-mile radius of Medical2 Career College in Tupelo, MS, there is 13 hospitals according to the Directory of Mississippi Facilities. The Directory also list 45 long term care nursing facilities, 33 assisted living homes, and numerous home health agencies and hospice care. According to the most current Department of Labor statistics reported in May 2015 for Mississippi, CNAs and Home Health Aides total more than 20,000 employed.


Employment Opportunities--- Certified Nurse Assistant, Nurse Assistant, or Personal Care Giver. Potential employers are nursing homes, hospitals, or home health agencies.


Average Salary---The typical annual salary for a Certified Nurse Assistant in Mississippi is $21,278, based on $10.23 per hour at 40 hours a week for 52 weeks. In 2022, the typical starting salary for a Certified Nurse Assistant in Mississippi is $13.00 per hour.

Certification and Job Placement ---Certified Nurse Assistants must graduate and pass the CNA state exam to become eligible for employment in a long-term care facility. Potential employers are nursing homes, hospitals, or home health agencies.
